Brittany Force rode the momentum from her Topeka win and five consecutive number one qualifiers to a semifinal finish Sunday at the NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway. It was an early day, however, for both Robert Hight and John Force going out in the first round.

With her seventh number one qualifying position of the season, Brittany Force earned a bye in the first round of eliminations. The consistency continued as the team improved to run a stellar 3.672-seconds, the quickest pass of the event, to defeat Antron Brown’s 3.771 in the second round. The victory set Force up to run Clay Millican, a rematch from the final round at Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka last weekend. Force would run into trouble almost immediately and have to shut off early for a 7.971-second run giving Millican the win.

After bumping up to the number six qualifying spot Saturday evening, Robert Hight experienced a mechanical issue down track in the first round, giving J.R. Todd’s the opening round win.

Coming into the race with the points lead off his third win of the season, John Force struggled in qualifying with only one clean pass Friday afternoon.  In the opening round, Force would go on a wild ride mid-track, nearly hitting the wall but keeping the PEAK Camaro in his lane, giving opponent Ron Capps the win.

The next event is the U.S. Nationals September 3rd-5th in Indianapolis where the teams will earn points and a half at the event leading into the Countdown to the Championship points reset.
