Transmission Failure? Don’t Lose Your Cool.

No driver ever wants to experience transmission failure. They can be a real pain to deal with and quite a costly repair, too. Depending on what type of car or truck you drive, you might be looking at thousands of dollars to repair or replace a transmission.

Why did the transmission fail?

 

90% of transmission failures are due to overheating. If your transmission fluid isn’t able to keep itself cool, all sorts of problems could be around the corner.

 

 

Coolant is the true lifeblood of the engine.

 

Your engine is extremely dependent on coolant to remove heat from the transmission fluid.  At just 18 degrees above normal operating temperatures, your transmission fluid will break down faster than intended. That can lead to all sorts of problems like leaks, loss of pressure, even the clutch burning out.  If your vehicle has low coolant, or the water to coolant mixture is off, your coolant won’t work as intended and cannot effectively remove heat from the transmission fluid.

 

 

Give your vehicle a coolant check-up.

 

Every time you open your hood is the right time to check your coolant levels. So, open the hood and check the levels in the coolant reservoir. If it’s low, top it off with PEAK Long-Life 50/50.

 

Next, check the condition of your coolant with a PEAK Tester and visually inspect the color of the coolant.

 

If the coolant is dirty or the test indicates poor quality, we suggest performing a complete flush of the system and fill with PEAK Long-Life Full Strength and water mixture.
